In the beginning, she is focusing on safety at school concerns, addiction infrastructure, trade and drug issues. Schlapp's current job doesn't involve many interactions with reporters. She garnered some media attention when her name was mentioned as a possible candidate in the race to replace Hope Hicks in the role of communications director. It's been a nasty fight. Schlapp was a ally of Tony Sayegh who was also a candidate. The two began fighting in the media. Schlapp confronted Sayegh following that the Washington Examiner printed a bad story on him.
